Platte River State Park September 2017

Our original plans for Thursday were canceled and so...
Into the forest we go, to lose our minds and find our souls.

Platte River State Park is a favorite of ours.

Nothing beautiful asks for attention.

We arrived around noon. Not the best lighting for photos,
but memories had to be captured.

I could stare at him for hours.

Our only sign that Fall is upon us.

"In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
- John Muir

"Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt."
- John Muir

All good things are wild and free.

The human spirit needs places where nature has not been rearranged by the hand of man.

 psithurism (n) -
the sound of wind in the trees and the rustling of the leaves.

We jumped in the car for a snack and a slow drive.
We found our way to the horse barn and jumped out.
We were at the right place at the right time.

"There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man."
- Winston Churchill

Don't forget to play.

"Climb the mountain so you can see the world. Not so the world can see you."
- David McCullough Jr.

 We tried.
The timer, focus, and timing of the jump needs work.

"In the cool solitude of trees
Where leaves and birds a music spin,
Mind that was weary is at ease,
New rhythms in the soul begin."
- William Kean Seymour

"Adopt the pace of nature; her secret is patience."
- Ralph W. Emerson

"Allow nature's peace to flow into you as sunshine flows into trees."
- John Muir

"You learn a lot when you're barefoot. The first is that every step is different."
- Michael Franti

Nelipot (n) -
one who walks barefoot

Go where you feel most alive.

Come away with me to a quiet place and rest a while.

"At the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair messy, and your eyes sparkling."
