For those without hope, consequences mean nothing. It’s been a minute since I did my grateful blog—cheers to hope being restored and to resurrecting healthy habits.

Seasons are beautiful, each offering a glimpse of God in a unique way. When we resist the changing of seasons, we risk missing out on a facet of His character.

In the same way, people in our lives change with the seasons. It’s not that we forget them, but their presence may be more prominent in one season and less in another. Yet, every person plays a role in helping us see the fullness of God.

I’m thankful for everyone in my life, but here are a few I’d like to highlight from 2024:

CARSEN – My favorite person on the planet and my greatest gift. Being your mom is the literal best. I love your enthusiasm for life and the things you enjoy. From football to the electric guitar, loving you and the things you love is a journey I wouldn’t trade for anything. You are wise beyond your years, and I learn something from you weekly. Our hiking trips together are my favorite and I look forward to creating more memories on the trails. I love you heaps and heaps.

MOM & DAD – Your commitment to Carsen and me is unmatched. Thank you for your unconditional love—not just with words but with action. Thank you for the sacrifices you make for us. We love you.

STEPH & STEWART – Thank you for being like a brother and sister to me and an auntie and uncle to Carsen. Thank you for including Carsen in your manhood adventures with your boys. Driving to Omaha over the summer to take him back with you meant more to me than words can express. Steph, thank you for being open to last-minute adventures, talking through world events, and loving me for me.

And a shoutout to you and AMY—my homeopathy honnies. I’d either be long gone or full of antibiotics if it weren’t for you two. Thank you for not giving up on me, even when my symptoms are unusual. I love y’all.

STEPH – My generational twin. Thank you for listening and never thinking less of me in my process. Thank you for knowing me—like, really, truly knowing me. Thank you for pushing me without ever demanding. You’re a rare gem, and I feel so lucky to call you my friend. I love you.

CARLA – My work bestie even after we don’t work together anymore. My ride-or-die. There’s no one I’d rather spend hours sending and receiving memes and reels with. God has redeemed what the enemy tried to steal, and we will continue to live in His fullness. I’m so glad God brought us back together. You’re the only person I’d willingly talk on the phone with for hours. Love you.

GRANDPA JOHN - Thank you for taking Carsen and I under your wing while my parents are away. You care for us so very well and make us feel seen - not forgotten. We enjoy spending time with you. Love you.

JAKE & BECKY – Best boss ever! Even after I said no, I said yes to working at CFCI because I knew I could follow you. You are the real deal. You lead like Jesus—you’re the first one there, the last to leave, and you serve, listen, and trust your people. That’s rare, and I feel lucky to have you as my boss. Thank you for turning Carsen and me into Steeler fans. We’ll forever be singing “Renegade” and twirling our terrible towels.

Becky, girl - You are the Diana to my Anne-with-an-E. The sprinkles to my ice cream. The platinos to my steak. Life became more fun after we became friends. Thank you for loving my kid and being genuinely interested in what he does. I love laughing with you and the comedy show we create for others. I hope we continue to dive deeper into each other’s lives. I’m so grateful for this season of life with you. I love your family.

BLURRY THURSDAY GROUP - Without you, I would have given up on the world long ago. Thank you for going to the places with God that others don’t want to go. Thank for you being a safe place to ask questions without needing to have an answer. I love the Lord in a deeper, more real way because of everything we’ve explored. Thank you. I love our community.

THE BALL FAMILY – I’m so grateful we figured out we were neighbors. You all are a breath of fresh air with the biggest hearts to serve. Thank you for taking an interest in me and welcoming Carsen into your fold. He’s growing into a better human because you’ve given him a space to learn and make mistakes in your home. We love you.

...and to God, the one who has been so very close to Carsen and I, and who has, for now, blessed me with these.
