We Believe In Miracles
Recommended Reading: The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson
Deuteronomy 33:16, "The favor of Him who dwelt in the burning bush" is upon us.
I shared the vision for a design studio/ministry space that the Lord gave Kevin and I on a blog post titled Woodstock, Art and Culture Makers last week.
Habakkuk 2:2, "Record the vision and inscribe it on tablets."
It felt vulnerable.
It felt raw.
And it was a risk.
It's felt risky because it's like we put our reputation on the line. We spoke out before it's happened. I mean, it's not as if we have the money [YET] to open the studio. We are moving forward, talking to the building developer, and planning to open our studio in May all without a penny in the bank for this large endeavor. This vision is way beyond our means.
But like Mark Batterson said, "If you don't risk you forfeit the miracle."
And so we risk, and share because we don't want the miracle and this vision to pass us by.
After writing out the vision and emailing some dear friends to ask if they would support our family and/or the studio I read this:
"When you live by faith, it often feels like you are risking your reputation. You’re not. You’re risking God’s reputation. It’s not your faith that is on the line. It’s His faithfulness. Why?"
“Because God is the one who made the promise, and He is the only one who can keep it. The battle doesn’t belong to you; it belongs to God. And because the battle doesn’t belong to you, neither does the glory. God answers prayer to bring glory to His name, the name that is above all names.”
“Drawing prayer circles isn’t about proving yourself to God; it’s about giving God an opportunity to prove Himself to you. Just in case you have forgotten — and to ensure that you always remember — God is for you. I can’t promise that God will always give you the answer you want. I can’t promise that He’ll answer on your timeline. But I can promise this: He answers every prayer, and He keeps every promise. That is who He is. That is what He does.”
So while we take a risk, we aren't risking our reputations.
We don't have to prove ourselves.
The last few mornings, I wake up early [thank you Carsen boy], walk along the ocean, and talk to God. I pray very specific prayers. Not just, "Lord give us favor with this building," but "Lord, we want our rent to be R45 [about $4.50] per square meter." "Lord, we want Kevin to be the creative director for the entire building." "Lord, help Kevin befriend the building developer and get into his life." "Lord, we need $x more in monthly support to be sustainable. Bring it in."
I don't pray out of a place of desperation for God to answer so I don't look bad.
I pray because I believe in the vision God gave us, and I believe He is faithful to provide for said vision.
"Take a step of faith when God gives you a vision because you trust that the One who gave you the vision is going to make provision. And for the record, if the vision is from God, it will most definitely be beyond your means." - Mark Batterson
Would you join us as we pray for this studio space?
1. For our rent to be R45 per square meter
2. For Kevin to be the creative director for the entire building
3. For our family to reach our monthly sustainable budget
If you'd like to be a part of taking this step of faith and seeing God prove Himself please email us at kevinandlindsaygrimes@gmail.com. We'd love for you to join us as we trust God and pray circles around this studio space, Woodstock and the artists of this neighborhood.
