Imperfect Parents

My dear[est] baby boy,

As much as I can't wait to meet you, I sometimes get concerned about you coming into this world.

You are the essence of pure and blameless, and yet you are coming into an imperfect world.

Your daddy and mommy are broken vessels. We screw up and don't handle everything perfectly.

Please forgive us. This will not be the first time you hear us say this. We will not be perfect parents. We will let you down, no matter how hard we try not to. We will do things wrong no matter how much we don't want to.

This world is beautiful.
But it's broken.

If I can give you any advice now, and in the years to come, it would be to keep your eyes on Jesus my son. Your mommy and daddy will let you down.

But your father in heaven never will. He is the example among examples. Follow His footsteps. Know your daddy and I are and will continue to do our best to follow in Jesus' footsteps, and I hope we can be amazing examples for you to look up to, but Jesus is the ultimate example. May you, sweet boy, be a reflection of Him.

You are deeply loved by your mommy, daddy and Jesus.
Waiting patiently,
Mommy

  1. These letters are soooo precious and your son is a lucky man to have you two as parents (broken as you are-you're surrendered too.) Can't wait to meet him and hug all three of you!
