Learning to Sing My Own Song

Habakkuk 2:2, "Then the Lord replied: 'Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.'"

Quote of the Day: "Lindsay, the Lord has given you great vision. Don't sing backup when you have your own song to sing. Your song is so beautiful." Joseph Avakian

There are mentors in life who continually encourage their disciples to follow their own vision or the vision or others. Then there are mentors in life who recognize when their disciples are ready to go and make their own disciples with their own vision.

I've learned from and served under others' visions for the past 10+ years. I faithfully woke up at 6 a.m. for Thursday morning small group, devoted many hours to photographing and editing photos for different organizations, respectfully stayed still when told I was not ready, and traveled around the world carrying with me the vision of others.

I was told this week that I am ready, and challenged to remember the dreams God placed inside of me. To take this open opportunity in my life and step into my own vision.

I'm beginning to understand the significance of age in life.
Jesus spent His first 30 years learning, listening and serving his mentors and elders before He started His own ministry.
I turn 30 in May.
I'm beginning to believe, I too, must step out from the shadows and into the destiny God is calling me to.

I have my doubts.
But I also have people who believe in me.
Believe in the dreams within me.
Believe in the God that put them there.

And that is encouraging. Enough, at least, to keep my head above the waves as I write down the vision and make it plain on paper.
