The arts are not a way of making a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.” - Kurt Vonnegut, A Man Without a Country

I believe art ushers in the presence of God.

Without art,
Humanity is not whole.
A prayer room is empty.
A school system is missing the education of the soul.
Life is absent of compassion.

A few Mondays ago, during a worship set in the prayer room, the Holy Spirit was really moving and I heard, “Paint, Lindsay.” I opened my eyes with this overwhelming desperation to grab a paintbrush and paint my heart to the Lord. But I found no outlet.

I believe there is a disconnect between prayer and art, that together has the potential to ignite a great release of God’s power, Love and revelation.

I see an explosion of creativity ushering in the Holy Spirit.
I see breath entering a valley of dry bones.
I see a generation of peacemakers standing for righteousness.

But only if the arts and prayer movement walk hand in hand.
One is not fulfilled without the other.
But when united, this world will be transformed.
