Santorini Island
Before my body decided to shut down and become sick, I took a weekend getaway to the Greek Island of Santorini. The island is a long 9-hour overnight ferry ride and nearly 200 km southeast from mainland Greece. The total land area comes to about 34.99 square miles and you can drive from one side of the island to the other in about 30 minutes. Santorini was formed out of an enormous volcanic explosion, destroying the earliest settlements on what was formerly a single island.
This island is also the filming spot for the Greek portion of the movie, "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," a classic. We jumped off the same cliff, walked among the same homes and walked along the same dock.
In all my travels, Santorini is the most beautiful place I've visited. Against the beautiful blue sky, the white cave like houses glowed. To me, this is Greece.
Anne has now driven in Panama, South Africa and Greece
While exploring I met Alexander, owner of Alexander's Hotel. He was very friendly and gave us a tour of his hotel. Here are a few rooms and views from this AMAZING place.
