Made It To Panama

The team made it to Panama!

We are staying in a building that sits across the street from the Panama Canal. AWESOME!

Tomorrow we are leading a service and I will be the MC.

The following is what I hope will come out of my mouth:

Greeting:
Hello. My name is Lindsay and I am here with 37 other photographers from all over the world.

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your service today. We are very excited to be here. Please come find any of us later so we can meet you personally if we have no already.

We are part of a mission organization called photogenX.

We use our cameras as a tool to bring light to the darkness, hope to the hopeless and a voice to the voiceless.

It is our vision to find creative ways to address, expose and redeem the world’s biggest injustice issues.

In 2006, photogenX published a prayer booklet addressing 30 gender-based injustice issues.

Issues like Child Prostitution, Human Trafficking, Infanticide, Poverty, HIV/AIDS and starvation.

On Sunday, July 18 we are launching the Spanish version of the prayer booklet. We are very excited to have the Latin Church involved in praying!

Gary, Ryan and Laura are going to share three issues specific to Panama – Pornography, Child Prostitution and Human Trafficking.

Sex and Money:

A group of 13 different photographers from our organization launched a campaign and publication called “Sex & Money: A Global Search for Human Worth.”

This book focuses on the connection between money and the global sex trade.

Currently, there are 1.2 million children being trafficked globally every year.

This is something I know breaks the heart of God.

The group is in the midst of creating a movie documentary addressing the Human Trafficking problem in the United States.

Many citizens of the U.S. do not realize human trafficking is happening in their country let alone their state or city.

The documentary will educate and give practical ways for people to recognize and end slavery in their communities.

This video clip is a small piece of their publication and documentary.

Wrap Up:
I would like to read from Proverbs 31: 8-9, “Speak out for those who cannot speak, for the rights of all the destitute. Speak out, judge righteously, and defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

Pornography, Child Prostitution and Human Trafficking are happening here in Panama and we, as the church, must act.

I believe the church of Panama can help bring an end to these injustice issues not only through prayer but also in deed.

Matt and Misty moved to Panama to see that orphans would know and feel the love of Jesus.

Over 50,000 orphans are in Panama with only 10 foster families, one attorney and two social workers.

They are speaking with government officials to see that these children get the love, care and support they deserve.

But they need your help!

We are all called to love like Christ loves us.

This means loving those that society deems as outcasts.

We must ask God how we can help end these issues. Begin to ask God what he is calling you to do.

Prayer is good and needed but it must be coupled with action. What is God calling you to do?
