God's Goodness and Amazing Friendship
Quote of the day: “You cease to amaze me…. Wait, I think I said that wrong.” – Me
I love my community, I love Panama and I love God with my whole heart.
About a month and a half ago the Lord spoke to me.
“Lindsay,” He said. “I want you to step fully into the gifts I have given to you.”
“What gifts are you referring to Lord?” I asked.
“Photography, writing and communicating,” He replied.
“Communicating?” I wondered. “What does that mean?”
“Public speaking,” He said.
While public speaking terrifies me I knew it was a gift I needed to cultivate.
Today, I began to walk out this revelation from God, and unlike every other time I speak in public I was not nervous.
The Lord gave me the words to say and I felt confident. I made eye contact, spoke with clarity and rarely used the words, “Um” and “like.”
I believe that as I step out in obedience I learn, in a new way, what it means to be a friend of God. A deeper, more intimate friendship than I have ever known.
It is beautiful.
I begin to understand His unending love and what He has done for me. To know the power of His death and resurrection, that He might receive the full reward.
And as I seek His face, He gives me the boldness to speak out. The reality is, I may never speak in public again, but this experience has drawn me closer to Him – and for that I am grateful.
Today, Panama experienced its worst thunderstorm and flooding in nearly five years. A small indigenous village about an hour up the river from where we are staying had a number of trees fall on their huts destroying about 40% of their homes. Many from the village store up food as they make few trips into the city and many of their supplies and lively hood have been destroyed by the rising waters. We had a number of activities planned for tomorrow, but have opted to simply go and help this community rebuild their homes as best we can.
Please pray as we boat up the river to give aid to this hurting community tomorrow. I pray for many opportunities to bless... And play soccer with the kids :)
May His kingdom come.
May His will be done.
On earth as it is in heaven.
