Lesson in Giving

I used to consider myself generous.

I enjoyed blessing people with gifts here and there. Today, I learned I had been giving out of abundance.

As a class we needed $41,000 by the end of the day for lecture fees and a down payment on outreach fees. We decided to take a class offering and ask the Lord what we should give, if we were to give at all. As I prayed the Lord gave me an amount and I began to cry.

“Lord, if I give that much I will not have any money left,” I said through tears.
“Will you trust me?” was His reply.

I ended up giving the money He told me to give and I realized, at that moment, what it meant to give out of sheer obedience and not just abundance.

It was life changing.
