“My dear... You will tell stories of hurting people in picture form... You will write their stories in ways that we will see with our eyes and hearts... And you will tell the stories of forgotten people from many different places... I believe your home will be an airplane, your passport will fill up rapidly, your ability to see with your eyes and heart simultaneously will allow you to quickly discern the issues and communicate them to people who can make a difference/change.”- Cynthia Speckman
Hi! Thanks for stopping by! My name is Lindsay Blake and I am a documentary photographer passionate about God's love, the arts, justice, and peace.
I believe in its silent beauty, art longs to speak and align a broken humanity back to its conception, to Eden where freedom, justice and beauty flow. My photos - from around the world - capture the human experience and common humanity shared by all. It is my hope to creatively bring the kingdom, justice and God's love wherever I go in this world.
I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in December of 2004 with a degree in Studio Art - Photography and Communications - Journalism. Since then, I worked as the Director of Promotions for an organization in Peshawar, Pakistan and as a journalist for the Council Bluffs Daily Nonpareil.
Since April of 2009, I’ve been giving myself to full time missions in partnership with the international missions organization Youth With A Mission (YWAM) to see the world transformed by the love of Jesus.
I served with photogenX – an organization that uses art & photography as a catalyst to address, expose and redeem the world’s biggest injustice issues.
Along with 10 other photographers, we traveled through 36 countries documenting the lives of those we met. As we took photos and heard stories, were were overwhelmed with the needs that confronted us along the way. But as the days wore on, we realized we could make a difference, every day, with simple acts of genuine love. Recently, we wrote a book titled Act Here. Love Now. This book is a culmination of their stories, photos, and practical ways to impact your own community, city, and world. You can buy the book on the product store page.
Currently, I'm working with the Community Transformations DTS (Discipleship Training School), a program that trains missionaries from all over the world to first and foremost, love God with their whole being, and then to selflessly love and serve others across the globe. As a staff member, I'm involved in the training and discipleship of students, as well as leading a team of people on an outreach somewhere in the world to serve people in need and share Jesus with them.
As a community of believers, we believe that by loving God, and being loved by Him, we display the transformative power of the gospel to the world. As we walk like Jesus in the nations, bringing his love to every part of society, to the rich and poor, to the lost and the broken, the simplicity of encountering God and his gospel transforms the world.
I am also the Outreach coordinator for the school. My responsibilities include being the point person for booking all airline tickets, the insurance company, budgets for all 10 teams, and visa process for all students, etc. I am also leading a small group of girls through discipleship and mission-training, group Bible studies, weekly one-on-ones, and practical ministry application in our outreach location.
