New Year Resolutions

On the eve of New Year's, I decided to look at my dream list and see which ones I can cross off and what ones I want to accomplish in 2011. It's a scary thing to "speak out" New Year Resolutions. It makes you accountable to everyone listening.

114. Picnic in Central Park.

I LOVE New York City. There is no other way to say it. It captured my heart this time nearly eight years ago. I spent a week in the great city with my best friend and we stood in Time Square to welcome in 2003. It's a week I always look back on and smile. I went back for a day when I visited my friends in DC. But it was not long enough and only made me crave the city and it's creativity more.

This year I turn 30, and would love nothing more than to spend my 30th birthday in the BIG Apple. So it seems only fitting to eat my birthday lunch in Central Park.

67. Leave an inspiring message in 100 random places

I have bought the paper. I have the pens. I now just need to write the inspiring/encouraging messages and leave them in random places for others to find.

I’m sure other items on my dream list will be crossed off in 2011, but these two I am making a conscious effort to obtain.

More than a New Years Resolution, what is on your dream list?

Road Trip Around the Island + Volcano

As a Christmas gift, our friend Megan gave us $100 to spend together. So for Natalia's last day we took a road trip to the volcano, which ended up taking us completely around the island... LITERALLY.

It was a blast, minus the volcano, which was a disappointment in my option.

Good tunes made the trip a lot of fun.
P.S. Notice the oldest got thrown in the back seat.
Where is the respect for your elders?!

Savannah spotted a whale so we pulled over to look.
I saw it's tail, but poor Cam here saw nothing.

Not as cool as the old ones.

These two always take photos of each other. ALWAYS!

While the girls were chatting this is the conversation between me and a man in a white car:
Man in white car: Nice camera.
Me: Thanks!
Man in white car pulls around.
Man in white car: What I meant to say is that you are beautiful, but what came out was nice camera.
Short exchange of polite talk.
Man in white car: Lets go for a ride some time.
Lindsay: Sure!
[He wasn't my type, and phone numbers were NOT exchanged. But it still made my day.]

Naomi and I were a bit disappointed in the lack of lava [NONE] at the volcano. So while everyone else strained their eyes to try and find it, we played around with the $10 flashlight we rented.

Looks like lava right?

 Painting with the flashlight.

I'm turning 30 in 2011

As 2010 closes, I can’t stop thinking about my impending 30th  birthday in 2011.

That’s right the BIG 3-0, and while I LOVE every birthday and make every effort to enjoy each one to its fullest - this one seems rather pivotal.

Crucial.
Decisive.
Maybe even a milestone.

Sure, I could be making a bigger deal out of my 30th birthday than necessary.
But why not?
I will officially be considered an Adult.
An Adult adult, if you know what I mean.

No more using “I’m in my 20’s” as an excuse for not knowing what I want to do with my life. That is what the 20’s are for, right? - to figure life out. The 30’s are for doing that which I discovered.

Did you know 30 is the average age of retirement for NFL players?
30... WHAT?!

Maybe this is why I’m so scared. I’m supposed to be an Adult now. We are told to act our age when we are five, and now I feel like I’m supposed to listen.

But, I don't want to fear 3-0. I want to embrace it and experience life to it's fullest in my 30's, just like I did with my 20's. I want to laugh harder, love deeper and experience life more than I ever have before.

So for those of you who have turned 30, give me tips:
- Reasons why turning 30 is awesome.
- Advice of things to do BEFORE turning 30.
- Life lessons learned when you turned 30.
- The hard truth about turning 30.
- Etc.
- Etc.

Please.
I’m asking.
